Ice Show Costume measurements will be held again on February 11th during Canskate from 10-10:50am and 12:20-1:10pm.
Any Tuesday and Thursday Canskaters that did not get measured during there regular time can come during these times.
All sizing for Ice Show Costumes will take place during the following sessions.

'The Mount Pearl Open Starlites held a second fundraising draw on December 18, 2011 for two NLC Gift Cards. The winner of the 1st place, $250 Gift Card is Laura Crosbie, ticket number: 000960. The winner of the 2nd place $100 Gift Card is Jim Tilley Jr., ticket number 001332.
The draw was conducted by Kevin Walsh, witnessed by Dave Janes, Lindsay Janes and Erica Nixon.

Club skaters Ashley Bishop (Novice Women); Robyn-Lynn McGrath (Novice Women & Pre-Novice Pairs); Grace Woodland (Pre-Novice Women) and Matthew Power (Pre-Novice Pairs) represented the Club and the Newfoundland and Labrador Section in Regina, SK, taking on the nation’s top skaters at the 2012 Skate Canada Challenge Competition.

Robyn-Lynn McGrath and Matthew Power skated two solid programs, not only achieving personal best scores, but also winning the GOLD MEDAL! Robyn-Lynn and Matthew are the 2012 Pre-Novice Pairs Champions of Canada!!!!!! The National Pairs aired on the NTV news this week. To view this clip click here

The club had a fabulous showing at the 2012 Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Sectional Championships held November 11 and 12, 2011 at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay. Sophia Burke had a fabulous skate in Juvenile Women, the competition officials awarded Sophia with the Polaris Cup (Most Artistic Skater in the competition), a great accomplishment! Congratulations Sophia!!
Grace Woodland (Pre-Novice Women), Ashley Bishop (Novice Women); Robyn-Lynn McGrath (Pre-Novice Paris and Novice Women) and Matthew Power (Pre-Novice Pairs) have qualified for and will be representing the club and Newfoundland and Labrador section at the 2012 Challenge event in Regina, SK later this month. This competition brings together the Nations top athletes in competition. Good Luck Grace, Ashley, Robyn-Lynn and Matthew!!
Also, the mid-Fall test day was recently completed, and we had 5 skaters pass their tests. You can view the results on our honour roll on the right, or in our results archive.
Grace Woodland and the pair team Robyn McGrath and Matthew Power will be skating at the Heart and Stroke Foundation's fundraiser called 'Lace up for Health' at Mile One today.
Nine club skaters will be competing at the 2012 Newfoundland and Labrador Sectional Championships November 11-12, 2011 at the Jack Byrne Arena, Torbay, NL.
All members are encouraged to come out and support our skaters and watch the provinces top skaters compete.

Adult Learn-To-Skate will continue as scheduled on Thursday October 20, 2011 at Glacier 2.
Club skater Grace Woodland competed at the 2011 Octoberfest competition (October 13-16) in Barrie, ON.
Grace had a fabulous short program on Thursday, and was in first place with a score of 24.09! Another great skate in Friday's free program with a score of 39.83 gave Grace a combined total of 63.92, and earned her a silver medal in her flight.

The Mount Pearl Skating Club has a fabulous start to the season at the Avalon Region Fall School Test Day! We had a total of 57 tests passed, and Ashley Bishop passed her final gold dance to earn another gold test, Ashley now has Triple Gold Status (Dance, FreeSkate, Skills).

General Registration will take place on Saturday, September 17th, 2011 from 10 AM - 3 PM, and Sunday, September 18th, 2011 from 1 PM - 4 PM at the Glacier Arena. You can find registration forms on the Registration Info Page or on the appropiate Program Information page.

The new arena Glacier 2 will be officially opened this month. To commerate the occasion, a free skating session has been made available for all Mount Pearl Skating Club members and Mount Pearl Minor Hockey members. This session will take place Friday September 2nd from 6 PM - 8 PM.

Congratulations to Grace Woodland who competed in the Thornhill Summer Skate in Thornhill Ontario. She had an excellent skate placing 3rd in the short, 2nd in the free and 2nd place overall in her flight of Pre-Novice.
Club skaters Grace Woodland (Pre-Novice) and Ashley Bishop (Novice Women) competed at the 2011 Minto Summer Skate competition in Ottawa, ON July 28-31, 2011.
Both girls skated well, representing the club proudly.
Grace place third in both the short and free programs, bringing home two bronze medals.
Ashley placed fourth in the short program and fifth in her free skate, fabulous for her first competition on Novice!

The Mount Pearl Skating Club was represented by three of our competitive skaters at the 2011 Eastern Challenge event in Ontario this past week!
Results
Robyn-Lynn McGrath and Matthew Power finished an impressive 6th place in Pre-Novice Paris at their first competition as a team, scoring 65.19.
Matthew Power skated fabulous Free Skate to finish 23rd overall, scoring 61.56 (making a new provincial record)!!
In PreNovice Women's Grace Woodland finished 24th with a score of 67.81 and Robyn-Lynn McGrath finished 34th with a total score of 64.55.

The club was be represented at the 2010 CBS Autumn Skate in Kelligrews this weekend by 17 of our STARSkaters, the returned with 10 medals!!!

The 2011 BMO Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Sectionals was held this weekend in Grand Falls, NL. This competition featured our top level competitive skaters, competing to qualifiy for Eastern Challenge, Junior Nationals, and Canada Games this season.

Grace Woodland was also awarded the award for the Polaris Cup for Most Artistic Performance at the competition.
Grace Woodland (Pre-Novice Women); Robyn-Lynn McGrath (Pre-Novice Women and Pre-Novice Pairs); Matthew Power (Pre-Novice Men and Pre-Novice Pairs) have earned the right to compete for Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2011 Eastern Challenge event in Ontario in December! Congratulations!!!

Our newly formed Pre-Novice Pairs team of Robyn-Lynn McGrath and Matthew Power skated very well as single entrants in the Pre-Novice Pairs Short and Free programs.
Grace Woodland was the 2010 reciepient of the Rebecca Pack Memorial Award for the second time!

Grace competed in at COS Octoberfest 2010- Barrie, Ontario, October 14- October 17, 2010
Grace skated two personal best skates placing second place after the short program, scoring 23.62; and fourth in her free program, scoring 40.37. Grace scored 63.99 overall for a fabulous fourth place finish!

The Club would like to remind parents of skaters of the KidSport™ program.
The KidSport™ program:
-Will provide sport grants to financially disadvantaged youth across the province including: registration and other fees and pequipment.
The official spokesperson for KidSport Newfoundland and Labrador is Canadian Idol finalist Rex Goudie. In conjunction with KidSport™ Newfoundland and Labrador, Goudie will assist in the promotion of the program province-wide.

Congratulations to club skaters Ashley Bishop and Grace Woodland, who competed in out of province competitions this summer!
Grace competed at the Minto Summer Skate competition July 29- August 1, 2010 in Ottawa, Ontario. Grace placed 4th in the short program out of 16 skaters and 5th in the free program out of 19 skaters.
Grace also competed in the Figure Skating Boutique Summer Skate in Thornhill, Ontario August 12-15, 2010. Grace skated well in both her short and long programs, placing 9th after the short and 4th in the long to finish 5th place overall.
Ashley competed August 5-8, 2010 in the 2010 BMO Financial Group Quebec Summer Sectionals placing 6th of 24 entries and 6th in the Free Program out of 29 entires.

A Gold Test is the highest (and last) test a skater can pass in any given disciple of Figure Skating. This makes Suzannah Quadruple Gold (FreeSkate, Dance, Skill, Intrepretive), a HUGE accomplishment!
